a little musing, a little philosophizing, a little ranting, a whole lot of nothing, really.

Today at Mt. Royal metro we saw a three piece band from France playing amazing acoustic flamenco and francais music, with oomph and gusto and super-talent. And behind them an older homeless woman, dancing her heart out. And she was so happy.

And I was so happy. And everyone was so happy.

Fraser Island

Fraser Island, originally uploaded by meghandear.

Today I wore four layers and was cold. Last week I was wearing a skirt and a tshirt. It's the beginning of the cold that makes me want to quit school and return to Australia.

That's not a postcard. I saw that. The world blows my mind.

Thanksgiving weekend:

-great drive home in a lovely silver rental car
-quality mom time
-A professional pedicure in my own living room!
-a brown blazer
-loving loving loving. I am thankful.
-turkey
-pork tenderloin
- and OH! the desserts
-Will Ferrell with the friends that appreciate him most
-eating Mick Jagger's snack
-dad time
-new car drive
-fun ride back with the inevitable debate about porn. How many times must I have it?
-lovely dinner in Kingston with nice strangers.

It was a break that was far too short and unbelievably needed.

human

On Friday night Cara and I were going to have a party, because we were sad. We were sad because the Stars concert was sold out. We LOVE the stars. If there was a stronger emotion than love, I would write that.

And this wasn't just any concert. This was a 125 ticket holder only midnight vernissage in an art gallery, and a benefit for Doctors Without Borders.

So, it is too good to miss. We cancel the party, and go out to the art gallery. On our way we meet this nice Spanish guy looking for the venue. He walks with us, and tells us all about yin and yang and karma, and is generally a good old time. Upon arrival, they tell us that there's no way we'll get in. We hang around anyway, meet some people, chat. Politely ask what our chances are every half an hour.

The opening bands are almost over, we've given up hope, but are going to listen from outside, dammit. All of a sudden Spanish guy is leaving. He sees us still waiting, goes and speaks Spanish to the doorman, who has been slightly stern to us. And he says "alright ladies, you're in".

And we saw the Stars. YES.
